Founded in 2022 to support retired service animals with the cost of veterinary and medical bills.
About the NFRSA
The NFRSA supports dogs and horses from the police, as well as other services, including the MOD Police and RAF Police MWD, with the costs of veterinary care once retired.
When an animal's career comes to an end, public funding is no longer available and the responsibility of their care falls to owners and families, (with retired dogs, it is usually their original handlers), and vet costs can become a challenge. The NFRSA alleviates the stress of unexpected medical bills by gifting financial grants to help cover that eventuality, and alongside that assistance, the charity also gives emotional support through what can be a traumatic time.
The NFRSA has well over 500 members registered and the help is offered in the areas where there is no local support from other charities from the Association of Retired Police Dog Charities, with whom the NFRSA works side by side.
